What is beauty?
If you look at the covers of women’s magazines you would think that beauty is being a 20 year old blonde who weighs about 90 lbs.
For decades big beauty companies, magazines, and even Hollywood have defined utterly unrealistic standards of beauty that distort the concept of what real beauty is.
This is the "Great American Beauty Myth".
This myth is then used to sell everything from magazines to clothes to makeup and expensive, exotic lotions, shampoos, conditioners, soaps, and more …
Real beauty is more than skin deep. It's not covering up who you are ... it's …
Water matters not just on the outside ... but also on the inside. A recent study concluded that one of the most effective ways to keep our skin soft was hydration. Not only do we need to take care to not dry out our skin we need to drink plenty of water to keep our skin hydrated on the inside as well.
You take good care of your skin. You put on sun screen when you go outside. You apply lotion to your skin every day. So why not let your skin have a drink of water every now and then?
Healthy skin is hydrated skin. Start taking care of your beautiful skin from within ... drink water. …
New Beauty magazine fall 2011
"Is your skin ultra sensitive?"
Five ways to prevent sensitivity
1. Stay out of the sun ... and protect skin with an SPF of at least 30
2. Avoid synthetic and artificial ingredients ... avoid fragranced & preservative packed products.
3. Keep skin well hydrated ... when the skin is void of moisture, the barrier can't function optimally and the skin can't naturally protect itself as well. just soap and scent think again. If you look at the list of
ingredients in many shampoos and cleansers you discover they include
preservatives (like formaldyhyde) and aggressive detergents to counter
the effects of hard water. These are harsh on your body and can dry
out your skin. Is it time to try a gentler, softer and smarter way to
get clean? Beauty begins with beautiful water. …
What is “radiant, shiny” hair?
In my search for information about beauty I’ve discovered words and phrases that sound great but don’t really tell me much:
Redefined, reformulated, rejuvenated, reactivated, revived, restored … and the list goes on.
I think this is part of the problem with talking about beauty. There is so much silly, over-the-top language to describe something that is actually basic science. The only real words that keep popping up are CLEAN and DRY.
Essentially what I’ve learned is that women want hair and skin that is CLEAN … but they want to avoid hair and skin that is …
Beauty care begins with two simple ingredients:
Soap and Water.
The problem is that unless the water is soft it is going to take more than soap to get you clean.
Most shampoos and beauty cleansing products contain harsh chemical detergents that are used to counter the effects of hard water. These detergents dry out the skin.
A significant number of shampoos and cleansers also contain preservatives like formaldahyde.
With soft water you can choose the most gentle and pure soaps. You won’t be washing away natural skin oils and you will get cleaner.
Hard water actually leaves mineral deposits in your hair and on your skin. No amount of scrubbing will remove these.
If you want truly clean skin and hair you need soft water and gentle soaps … Beauty begins with beautiful water.
